'Wonder Woman' takes the title of highest grossing superhero origin story

Move over, Spider-Man. And Batman and Superman and all superheroes with the operative descriptor of "man" – there's a new sheriff in town and long may she reignWonder Woman is officially the highest grossing superhero origin movie ever made. Patty Jenkins' summer smash hit has now earned a whopping $821,750 worldwide, shooting past the 2002 Spider-Man which earned  $821,709.

That said, Wonder Woman is the top superhero origin story. It's still the fifth-highest superhero movie of all time, falling behind sequels and team up films like The Dark Knight or The Avengers.
